A term that we use as Java developers to refer to: 1) a command that is run from the command line client to package Java code in a compressed format, 2) The compressed file that we created with the jar command. One of most recent popular tool used by Java developers is Maven and it is highly recommended for finding third party jar libraries or plugins.
