Welcome To The jar Bar

My personal site where I show and test my skills as a Java developer. I am Yucca Nel, from South Africa, born in 1982 and am living with a brain tumor. In 2007 I started learning the art of coding in Java and have since picked up other languages and technologies along the way.

Is this a bar?

Not really, perhaps just a little wordplay and SEO to get you here, but to get to the point I spent 5 years tending bars before making a decision to become a developer. So a little word play is appropriate as you're about to see!

Ok what is a jar then?

A term that we use as Java developers to refer to: 1) a command that is run from the command line client to package Java code in a compressed format, 2) The compressed file that we created with the jar command. Jar stands for Java archive and a typical Java application may be a standalone jar file or may make use of hundred of jar files in the form of third party plugins or libraries like Hibernate. One of most recent popular tool used by Java developers is Maven and it is highly recommended for finding third party jar libraries or plugins.
